A Letter of Support (LOS) from the Mayor’s office is used to support the credibility of a project and its viability to support the vision of the administration. A LOS is typically requested to support businesses and organizations in securing grants or other forms of support. For the City to best support your project, we must understand the project’s estimated impact, not only in an economic sense but socially as well.

The process for requesting a LOS includes completion of the preliminary project form below and submission of any supporting documentation such as visuals including maps, conceptual drawings, renderings, and financials or proof of capital stack if the project is concerned with housing or economic development.

Please ensure that your Letter of Support, Letter of Support request, and all supporting materials are submitted via email to Mayor@youngtownohio.gov . Your comprehensive submission will enable us to assess and advocate for your project with the utmost diligence and effectiveness.

The following are some guidelines that have been established in order to appropriately celebrate, honor, and recognize individuals or groups in the community.

Please review the following carefully before submitting your request:

1. Advance Notice Required: We will make every effort to honor every request, however, we cannot guarantee a proclamation will be prepared and signed by the Mayor if this guideline is not met. Your request must be received two (2) weeks in advance of the event date.
2. Required Information: We recognize that there are many special events that occur in the community that merit official acknowledgement. In order to prepare an official decree, we rely on you to provide accurate and legible information.
   1. Name and address of honoree(s), organization or event
   2. Form of address (Miss, Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr., Rev., etc.)
   3. Exact date of occasion (month, day, year)
   4. Age (birthdays, number of years of marriage, or year of annual event - e.g. 15th Annual Recognition Dinner.)
   5. Your (the requestor’s) name and daytime phone number
   6. Any specific mailing instructions if other than the honoree’s address
   7. Any relevant or researched information pertaining to the honoree (biographies, résumé’s, accomplishments, previous honors, etc.)
3. Request for Mayor Presentation: Should you desire for the Mayor to make a personal appearance, the following additional information is needed. The Mayor will review his schedule and confirm or decline the invitation, if his schedule does not permit.
   1. Date
   2. Time
   3. Location
4. When to expect the Proclamation: In most cases Proclamations will be available within three (3) working days. Once signed by the Mayor, the framed Proclamation will be forwarded or presented by the Mayor, should his schedule permit.

Please note that requests for a Key to the City are approved or declined by the Mayor.
